The Council focuses its efforts on building an inclusive environment within WBC and providing business-enhancing resources and programming specially designed for women. WBC has adopted the Diversity Council’s guidance and takes action to serve our core mission: to empower women and promote diversity throughout the building industry. The Diversity Council meets quarterly and produces publications and special events designed to increase awareness on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. INSURANCE COMMITTEE. Comprised largely of insurance industry professionals, the Insurance Committee examines issues related to the rising costs of insurance and develops educational programs and publications that provide guidance and clarity on insurance matters specific to the construction industry. The committee also reviews Labor Law 204-241 Reform, OCIPS, ADR, and other trending topics. DESIGN-BUILD COMMITTEE. The Design-Build Committee’s goal is to educate and inform all industry stakeholders on the issues related to design-build and their impact on subcontractors, MWBEs, and the industry at large. The Design-Build Committee meets periodically and hosts special webinars on topics of importance to the industry. SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE. The Sustainability Committee is dedicated to developing WBC’s activities concerning environmental, social and governance (ESG) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These goals will be enacted via webinars, briefing papers, and other programming that highlight the importance of sustainability in the built environment, and how the industry can build greener, more sustainable projects. UNION WOMEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM. The program is designed for women in the unionized building trades skilled labor workforce, including apprentices, journeywomen, forewomen and supervisors. The aim is to enlist building trades women to participate in coaching and peer mentoring to maximize career opportunities.
