Women Builders Council Continues to Press for Action on Bonding

The problem of bonding which confronts WBEs has been a main issue of attention for the Women Builders Council.

WBC board member Sharon Emek is a key figure in the bonding and surety field. As a result of her initiation, WBC has pressed New York State officials to find ways to address this serious concern.

Working with Lt. Governor David Paterson, State Insurance Commissioner Eric Denallo, Michael Jones-Bey of ESDC and the Jamaica Business Resource Center, WBC's Emek proposed a program to engage the surety industry in a program that can serve as a model for making bonding more available to W/MBEs.

WBC President Sandra Wilkin gives high praise to Sharon Emek's leadership and direction and to WBC for its strong and insistent demand for action in this crucial field.
