"Building Together: Women in Construction Look to Each Other for Support." WBC Featured in an Article by Construction Dive

Woman have long been a minority in construction, struggling to gain acceptance in a male-dominated field. Today, women make up about 9% of the building industry, compared to 47% of the overall U.S. workforce. To survive - and get ahead - they’ve looked to each other for mentoring, access to education and other support. One result of that collaboration has been the recent rise in professional organizations for women, by women at the local, state and national levels.

WBC Announces the 2017 - 2019 Board at Annual Holiday Party

On December 6, 2016 WBC hosted their annual Holiday party. At this year’s party, we celebrated the holidays by giving the gift of confidence by donating clothes for "Dress for Success" - an organization whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Additionally, we voted in our 2017-2019 Board.

WBC 13th Champion Award Dinner - Tuesday, May 16

This year’s Annual WBC Champion awards advances the legacy of last year’s dinner and will celebrate Champions, a new class of Outstanding Women and Men in the Construction Industry for 2017 and several iconic individuals who have created a roadmap for women to follow for both professional and personal success in the buildings industry and beyond.

President’s Reception - Friday, February 3rd

We are opening this year’s Women Builders Council (WBC) Annual Board Member Retreat to all WBC Members. Directly following the Board Member Meeting, all members are invited to attend the President’s Reception for a night of strategic planning and networking. The President’s reception is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.

Ensure Our Voices Continue to Be Heard - Join Us For WBC’S Lobby Day in Albany on March 13

WBC will be coordinating meetings and events with legislators and key policy makers from across New York State Government. Teams of WBC members will meet with NYS Senators, Assembly members and key decision makers to present our legislative agenda, as well as provide an update on WBC’s progress. Together, our voices can truly make a difference for women throughout the building industry.
